The daylily Hemerocallis cultivar,
`Spacecoast Bungle in the Jungle',
designated as seedling number 60-20, is a
tetraploid hybrid exhibiting exceptional
ornamental and horticultural traits. The
flowers are characterized by a striking
mauve base with a large, intricately
patterned bluish eye zone that radiates
toward the edges, complemented by a
vibrant green throat. These features
combine to create a stunning visual
contrast, making the cultivar highly
desirable for both hybridizing and
landscape purposes. Plant specifications
include a height of 32 inches, early-season
bloom, and evergreen foliage with
extended morning opening (EMO) and very
fragrant flowers. The blooms are 7 inches
in diameter, supported by strong scapes
with 5–6-way branching and 26–32 buds
per scape, ensuring abundant flowering.
This cultivar is fertile both as a pod and
pollen parent, demonstrating versatility in
breeding programs. It is a consistent
rebloomer and exhibits excellent resistance
to rust, leaf streak, and insect pests.
Adaptable to USDA Plant Hardiness Zones
5–10, this cultivar represents a valuable
genetic resource for enhancing flower size,
branching, and disease resistance in future
Hemerocallis breeding efforts.
